Classic Army vs. Echo 1

I get asked this question a lot from the Youtube crowd.

First, off "Better" is subjective so you may disagree with my conclusions.

In my eyes, there is little about Classic Army that makes it worth the extra money over the Echo 1 offerings. So far our Echo 1 G36c and MP5 have kept pace with or passed the Classic Army offerings in the same models.

Our CA G36C has run into some mechanical trouble in the form of a pulled battery wire and a floppy fire selector switch. These are not major issues, but the E1 has not fallen victim to the same problems and has been in our test stable longer.

The CA does have a higher ROF, however, its FPS is lower than the E1, so in this regard, it really boils down to what you are using the G36C for. If CQB is your game then the CA is the better choice. However, if you require a little extra range and shrub penetration power, then E1 is likely the tool to use.

Where, CA wins without much effort is in its exterior fit and finish. When you pick up the CA , it feels like you are handling the real deal. By contrast the E1 is now shiny with wear and definitely looks more like a toy.

This may or may not matter to you, but odds are you'll want your gun to look its best and if thats your number 1 priority than go CA.

Ugradability should be identical on both models given that they are TM clones, however, lots of people have stated that CA internals are "better". Without having inspected the internals of either, I cannot comment. But based on eaches performance in stock form I would say that they are at least equal.

In the end its really a question of personal preference. If you'r budget is tight then stick with the E1. It will be better, to use that extra money for a tactical vest and an extra mag or battery.

However, if you are in a better financial position then you can afford to buy the nicer fit and finish and the more prestigious name.

For what its worth the observations that I have made on the G36C apply to the Mp5 CA vs E1 debate as well. However, neither MP5 has suffered a mechanical failure.
